Hey there! Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm Mara, the captain of this ship we lovingly call Social Status. If you’re looking for the formal intro, here it is: I’m the visionary behind the scenes, but really, I’m just your average basic ‘berta girl-turned-social-media-maestro with a obsession for yoga studios and a knack for creativity and leadership. But let’s get to the fun stuff, shall we?

My journey into the social media cosmos started in my early 20’s while working at a hot yoga studio, a wedding shop and a country bar (yes all at the same time, and yes I realize how wildly different they are). Job juggling aside, everywhere I worked, I always seemed to become the unofficial Facebook whisperer. I of course had ulterior motives working 3 jobs and it wasn’t long before I decided the world was too big to stay in one place, and I began travelling around the world. I repeatedly quit my jobs, travelled, came home and was welcomed back to work, and eventually I realized the obvious: ‘why not continue working on their social media while I’m travelling?’ and the rest was history and Social Status was born while I was living in new Zealand.

Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work with One Fire Hot Yoga Festival where I reconnected with the owners of mentioned yoga studio who were starting up a coaching business (Artha, formerly the Yogapreneur Collective) who focus primarily on coaching yoga studio owners. I started with their socials and then quickly became the go-to social media expert in their community. After working with a few studios I realized that I had found my niche. As fun as country bar and wedding socials were, yoga studios were my jam. I understood WHAT they were offering more clearly than your average social media agency. So over the next few years, I’ve built Social Status up with that in mind and today I’m proud to say that our team is entirely made up of yogis for a reason and we actually know the difference between half moon in vinyasa vs. half moon in Bikram yoga - and if that means nothing to you, that’s fine, but the ones who do get it will see the value in it.

Now, for the truly important stuff: I’m a die-hard Swiftie (no shame in my game) and could probably teach a course on Harry Potter (still waiting on my Hogwarts letter, but I’ve got my wand ready). But wait, it gets better! I’m also the lucky other half to Kenny, the king of comedy in our household. And then there’s Waylon, our strawberry-blonde golden boy fur-baby, who I’m extremely obsessed with (like seriously, obsessed).

At the end of the day, I’m all about bringing that spark to your studio’s social pages and taking this off your plate. I’ve worked close enough with business owners and business coaches (coaching yoga businesses) that I understand the massive amount of shit business owners deal with on a daily basis and this is something that I can genuinely and effectively take off your plate and do your business proud.
